We believe that every student has the ability to succeed – sometimes, they just need the right guidance to get there.
Our tutoring program can provide homework help as well as one on one support tailored to student’s unique learning style, helping them build confidence, master challenging subjects, and reach academic goals. Whether students are aiming to boost their grades, prepare for exams, or simply gain a deeper understanding of their coursework, tutoring offers a powerful path to success.
Students in K-12 programs may receive homework help after school and during school breaks in the Community Center.
Hours of operation for Homework Help are Mondays through Thursdays from 2:30-5:30 during the school year and at other designated times when school is not in session. These services will be paid for directly by the Education Department, with no cost to Tribal Members.
To enroll a child in grades K-12 in the Homework Help program, contact the Education Department’s Assistant Director.
The MPTN Education Department is contracting tutors with expertise in a variety of subject areas, from early literacy instruction to advance mathematics and sciences.
These tutors are available for Tribal Member learners of all ages, including those no longer enrolled in a school. To be paired with a tutor, Tribal Members must complete the Education Department’s Tutoring Application.
Once completed and submitted, the Assistant Director will seek to pair the applicant with the appropriate tutor. The tutor and student will determine a schedule that meets their needs, and sessions may take place in-person or via Zoom.
Tribal Members may utilize these tutors for as many hours as needed, up to a cap of $5,000 per Academic Year. These services will be paid for directly by the Education Department, with no cost to Tribal Members. Please note that tutors charge the Education Department different rates depending on their experience and area of expertise, so the number of hours permitted per Academic Year will vary from tutor to tutor and student to student.
Tribal Members may select their own tutor rather than use a tutor directly hired by the Education Department. To do so, tutors chosen by Tribal Members must take the following steps:
As with Option #2 above, Tribal Members of all ages may hire a tutor, and the tutor and student will determine a schedule that meets their needs, either in-person or via Zoom. Tribal Members may utilize these tutors for as many hours as needed, up to a cap of $5,000 per Academic Year. There are two options for payments of these services: reimbursement to the Tribal Member or direct payments by the Education Department.
Professional tutoring agencies provide high quality tutoring and often offer pre- and post-assessments to help measure a child’s academic growth. Families may choose to apply for tutoring through an agency and have the MPTN Education Department pay for these sessions. As with Option #3 above, there are two options for payments of these services: reimbursement to the Tribal Member or direct payments by the Education Department.
Help the Education Department understand the needs and desires of the community by completing this form for EACH member of your family!
